
Dragons Fall In 3-0 Shutout at Hofstra

Hempstead, N.Y. - Two late Hofstra (9-4-2, 6-2-1 CAA) goals in the final five minutes of the game sealed a 3-0 victory for the Pride and continued the team's 11-match winning streak in home CAA matches. Drexel keeper Cory Robertson made seven saves in the contest for the Dragons who dropped to 6-9 on the season and 2-7 in CAA matches.
The Pride scored first in the 37th minute when a direct kick resulted in a loose ball knocked home by Chris Cox from six yards out. Drexel held the defending CAA Tournament champion scoreless for nearly the duration of the match. Arman Osooli gave the Pride an insurance goal in the 86th minute on a goal from the left side about four yards out.
The Dragons earned a pair of corner kicks in each half but failed to capitalize on the set pieces. Hofstra outshot Drexel 8-1 in the second period and 15-7 in the game, but the Dragons failed to put a shot on goal.
Hofstra deposited its final goal 25 seconds before the end of the match on a Ray Hassett shot from 15 yards out. Hassett's first goal of the season made the final score 3-0 in the Pride's favor.
Sophomore Leland Raum made his second career start at midfield for the Dragons. Freshman Fabio Assumpcao led the team with a pair of shots in the contest. Keeper James Winters picked up the shutout for the Pride.
The Dragons return to Vidas Field for their final home match of the season. The team squares off against Northeastern at 1:00 p.m. Seniors Dominick Balsamo and Kwesi Klass will be honored prior to kick off as part of Senior Day proceedings.
